Parent Support
|
Kids First! believes a good education begins in the home. This is particularly true in the years from birth to age 5 which are the most critically important period for human development. High quality early learning initiatives can greatly improve a child’s readiness to begin formal schooling and to thrive in subsequent years. Parents can create a positive learning environment in the home. Every day activities can be turned into learning opportunities whether counting out change from the grocery store or describing the colors of passing cars. These and many other simple, every day tasks can be made both meaningful and fun. The most important activity in the home is to read to your child, which promotes learning and appreciation for the written and spoken word, while in turn promoting the learning and enjoyment that comes from reading books. Kids First! supports initiatives which enhance home learning. These may include instruction on how to create a learning environment as well as providing the tools necessary for a good home learning environment including books, educational toys and other learning aids. Approval of support will be made by the Kids First! Board of Directors. Applications for grants should be made via the grant application process/forms under the tab “Grants”. ![]() |
